Description

Researchers at Monash University have developed the low FODMAP diet and a corresponding app to assist in the management of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The Monash University FODMAP diet works by swapping foods high in fermentable carbohydrates (FODMAPs), with low FODMAP alternatives. Around 75% of people with IBS experience symptom relief on a low FODMAP diet.

The app comes directly from the research team at Monash and includes the following:

  • General information about the FODMAP diet and IBS.
  • Easy to understand tutorials to guide you through the app and the 3-Step FODMAP diet.
  • A Food Guide detailing the FODMAP content for hundreds of foods using a simple 'traffic light system'.
  • A list of branded products that have been certified by Monash as low FODMAP.
  • A collection of over 70 nutritious, low FODMAP recipes.
  • Functions that allow you to create your own shopping list and add notes to individual foods
  • A Diary that enables you to record food eaten, IBS symptoms, bowel habits and stress levels. The Diary will also guide you through step 2 of the diet - FODMAP reintroduction.
  • The ability to adjust units of measurement (metric or imperial) and activate colour blindness assistance.

definitely a good app to make sure I'm on track with what is safe and how much. i would like a sort by option in the filter section to get all the greens together to quicken getting a shopping list or meal ideas together, then only having to search unsure items rathr than sifting past the reds.

Please improve this app!

Forgive me if these features already exist and I’m just incompetent, but there are two very simple improvements that would make this awesome: Enable sorting by Lo FODMAP compliant, so the safest appear at the top, going all the way down to the worst. And Please have a button that HIDES all branded, processed food products. As someone who does all the meal planning and cooking for a lofodmap partner, I just want ingredients and I just want ideas.

Very few recipes. All available free on website.

Didn’t find this very useful. I have food charts that are more helpful than this and easier to use. Our diet requested we purchased the app. The recipes are very limited and are all available free on their website. $13 for this basic app is way too much.

Worth the cost just for the food guide alone

I was really hesitant to purchase this app and wanted one with a lower cost but this was absolutely worth the price. It’s made everything so much easier and convenient which has taken a lot of the stress and pressure out of getting started with the low FODMAP diet. The only improvements I’d love to see is an easier way to see low FODMAP foods regardless of category, and more questions in the symptoms diary or a specific notes part in the symptoms entry portion.

Don’t wast your money

I have been reading the Monash website and found great recipes online. I thought I’d purchase the app to help find additional recipes and assist with the journey but the app was a waste of money as it has barely anything on it and isn’t very easy to navigate due to how basic it is.

Could be better

Found this app already knowing which group I need to avoid. The app has a lot of information but it would be good to be able to filter the food guide by food group rather than having to open every item individually. Also for an app developed by an Australian university the food information seems to be lacking a lot of common Australian brands, which is disappointing.
