Description

neoSim is an interactive neonatal resuscitation simulator designed for medical students, nurses, midwives, and doctors who want to build and maintain their resuscitation skills outside of the clinical environment.

The simulator models realistic newborn physiology — heart rate, oxygen saturation, temperature, and lung mechanics all respond dynamically to your interventions. There is no script: the baby responds to what you do, and to what you fail to do.

MODES

Tutor — guided coaching with real-time feedback on common errors like inadequate ventilation rate, inappropriate FiO2, slow compression rate, inadequate thermal control

Practice — unguided free practice with full equipment access. Develop fluency and muscle memory and get comprehensive debrief with score.

Challenge — a random scenario scored against a checklist covering seven domains: preparation, ventilation, circulatory support, de-escalation, oxygen management and thermoregulation

SCENARIOS

Term scenarios span mild, moderate, and severe birth asphyxia, antepartum haemorrhage, pneumothorax, sepsis. Preterm scenarios cover infants from 24 to 34 weeks gestation, with lung mechanics and resuscitation thresholds adjusted for gestational age. The manikin proportions scale continuously across the full 24-42 week range. Each scenario generates a unique patient with randomised starting parameters.

EQUIPMENT

Mask ventilation with real-time manometer (PIP and PEEP), endotracheal intubation, umbilical venous catheter with animated insertion, adrenaline and fluid bolus administration, needle decompression for tension pneumothorax, surfactant, supplemental oxygen with blender control (FiO2 21-100%), overhead heater, plastic wrap, and hat.

SCORING

Full post-simulation debrief with breakdown across multiple domains. Category scores highlight specific gaps.

neoSim is informed by NRP and ANZCOR neonatal resuscitation guidelines. It is an educational tool intended to supplement, not replace, formal training and clinical supervision. neoSim is not a medical device and must not be used for clinical decision-making or patient care.

What's New

Version 2.3.4 · 19 May 2026

Three-tier credentials — Earn Code Team, Advanced, and Specialist badges as you master scenarios. Your debrief now shows exactly what's left for the next tier. Esophageal intubation recognition — ETTs can land in the esophagus, just like in real life. Spot the signs — no chest rise, no CO₂ — and reposition. A new scoring item rewards fast recognition. ETT size matters — Pick the wrong size and you'll fail to intubate. Right-sized tubes seal better. ETT adrenaline route — Give adrenaline down the ETT when there's no umbilical access. The engine models slower, less reliable absorption. Better chest recession animation Refined T-piece physics — Manometer shows the realistic peak pressure actually being delivered under leak. PEEP range widened Polish — Surfactant administration with proper T-piece detachment, clearer cord clamp message, ELBW transilluminator tuning, fairer airway scoring, and many smaller refinements.

Outstanding Simulation Tool

This app is a much needed and incredible tool for anyone within the neonatal field, especially those developing or fleshing their neonatal resuscitation skills. Test your skills and knowledge and work to achieve best neonatal resuscitation outcomes. I love that each day is a different simulation and you can chose the type of neonatal condition you want to refresh yourself on. Great as an educational resource to engage clinicians. App works seamlessly and is such a fun time! Any and all hospitals would benefit having this in their education toolkit!

Extremely impressed! Fun, educational neonatal resuscitation simulation.

There are many different birthing scenarios in which you are required to resuscitate a newborn. All the equipment needed for a newborn resuscitation is there and you are required to provide respiratory or circulation support, with the app assessing your rates, achieved tital volume and oxygenation. You receive a score at the end of each scenario with very useful feedback on how to improve. This app is perfect for any Medical Officer or Nurse/Midwife wanting to practice their skills in neonatal resuscitation. I’ve never had so much fun doing professional development.
