Description

Researchers at Monash University have developed the low FODMAP diet and a corresponding app to assist in the management of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The Monash University FODMAP diet works by swapping foods high in fermentable carbohydrates (FODMAPs), with low FODMAP alternatives. Around 75% of people with IBS experience symptom relief on a low FODMAP diet.

The app comes directly from the research team at Monash and includes the following:

  • General information about the FODMAP diet and IBS.
  • Easy to understand tutorials to guide you through the app and the 3-Step FODMAP diet.
  • A Food Guide detailing the FODMAP content for hundreds of foods using a simple 'traffic light system'.
  • A list of branded products that have been certified by Monash as low FODMAP.
  • A collection of over 70 nutritious, low FODMAP recipes.
  • Functions that allow you to create your own shopping list and add notes to individual foods
  • A Diary that enables you to record food eaten, IBS symptoms, bowel habits and stress levels. The Diary will also guide you through step 2 of the diet - FODMAP reintroduction.
  • The ability to adjust units of measurement (metric or imperial) and activate colour blindness assistance.

I purchased the app thinking that Google would allow me to look at it to see if it was a good fit. went doing with it inhand and could find the info I was needing. sad story is that Google declined my refund. DON'T BUY THIS APP IF YOU DON'T THINK YOU WILL REALLY USE IT.

Frustrating. Bought the app mainly for the food guide, but filtering by sensitivity doesn't work. Running repeated searches in the food guide requires you to close and open the search function for each new query. The traffic light system seems great, but is no good if the suggested serving sizes are unrealistic...which they often are; baked beans list 16g, 18g, or 315g for example.

Unfortunately the app doesn't include the simplest "Recipe Maker" tool, to be able adding all your food per meal, in order to avoid "stacking"

Worth the money. You can filter by any FODMAP you're not sensitive to (fructans, for example). And it has little flags to signify when foods are found in a particular country. I have IBD and used to use books and webpages to get info on FODMAPs, but the problem with that is that people often make errors in including the info in their book or article. This app is the most up-to-date, comprehensive, and accurate source on FODMAPs.
