Description

David Stewart, Australia’s most renowned wildlife sound recordist, presents a unique bird call app that contains over 3800 high quality calls covering 725 species of birds.

This comprehensive collection of bird calls is the result of over 40 years of sound recording and will be a valuable tool for anyone wanting to identify Australian birds.

The app contains a taxonomic and alphabetic listing of birds with the ability to switch between IOC 10.1 and Clements World taxonomies with a tap of a button.

There is a small thumbnail image for most species and a concise descriptive text for each species.

The calls display a map of the area that the sound was recorded and also an oscillogram representation.

We invite any comments or suggestions for this new and unique bird call app. We look forward to hearing from you at support@mydigitalearth.com

This app is simply excellent. Its just Australian bird calls, so you need a field guide to supplement it. But the calls are extensive and of great quality. Many sub-species are included. Plus David Stewart is an expert, so the standard is high quality information through the audio. A great resource and archive of Australian bird calls.

This is definitely the best Australian Bird call app. It is unsurpassed in quantity and quality. It also contains vagrant bird calls.

This app has a wonderful expanded range of calls. Unfortunately continual verification requirements block and prevent opening the app when offline

Great recordings. From what I've listened to so far, the majority of the recordings are the same as what's present on Morcombe's Birds of Australia app. If you've already got Morcombe you might not need this one. Some recordings have other species in them (which is totally fine), to the untrained ear this is confusing though. Example 1st Magpie Goose call has White-browed Crake calling constantly. It would be nice if there was a notes section to let the listener know what else is calling.
