Downsize makes your photos smaller without sending them anywhere. Pick a few, choose how small you want them, and the compressed copies land in your gallery. Every photo is processed on your phone.
THREE WAYS TO COMPRESS
• Quality — one slider, from barely touched to as small as it goes.
• Target size — say "under 500 KB" and Downsize finds the quality that fits. Useful when a form, an email or a job portal has a hard limit.
• Resize — scale a photo to a percentage of its original size, keeping the proportions.
WHAT ELSE IT DOES
• Batch: pick several photos and compress them in one go.
• Save as JPEG, PNG or WEBP.
• Before and after: every photo shows what it weighed and what it weighs now.
• Results go to Pictures/Downsize, so they are easy to find and easy to delete.
• Share the compressed copies straight to any app.
• Share a photo from your gallery to Downsize to compress it without opening the app first.
• Rotation is read from the photo, so nothing comes back on its side.
• Light and dark theme.
PRIVACY
Downsize has no servers and no account. Your photos are never uploaded, and the app cannot open your gallery on its own: Android's photo picker hands over only the photos you select, one batch at a time. That is why Downsize asks for no storage permission at all on Android 10 and later.
FREE AND PRO
The free version compresses three photos at a time and shows ads. Downsize Pro is a single payment — not a subscription — that removes the ads and the batch limit for good.
WHY YOU MIGHT NEED IT
Phone cameras write files of several megabytes. Upload forms cap at 2 MB, email attachments bounce, chat apps re-compress badly, and a full gallery backup takes forever over mobile data. A 4 MB photo that becomes 400 KB looks the same on a screen and fits everywhere.
