Radiation Protection 2 Exam JP

A study app for Japan's Class 2 Radiation Protection Supervisor exam (第2種放射線取扱主任者試験). This national qualification is based on the Act on the Regulation of Radioisotopes; a Class 2 supervisor can be appointed at facilities that use sealed radioisotopes, but not radiation generating equipment or unsealed sources. The Class 2 exam is held once a year on a single day in late August, with 70 multiple-choice questions in total: 30 on law, 10 on practice, and 10 each on physics, chemistry and biology. To pass you need at least 50% in every subject and at least 60% overall. A single subject below the halfway mark fails the whole exam, so you need to secure the heavily weighted law section while still leaving no gaps in the smaller subjects. This app records your accuracy per area automatically, so you can see exactly which areas are still under the line.

Law accounts for over 40% of the paper and rewards accurate recall of provisions and figures, making it the most reliable place to score. This app splits Law into four areas and Practice into three, so you can drill the easily confused figures and procedures - facility standards, dose limits, record-keeping and reporting deadlines - area by area. After passing the exam, the licence is issued once you complete a training course at an institution registered with the Nuclear Regulation Authority. There are no eligibility requirements: anyone can sit the exam regardless of education or work experience.
