Paste an expected checksum and compare it against the one you generated. The comparison is case-insensitive, so a value copied from a download page, from certutil on Windows or from sha256sum on Linux will match whether it is upper or lower case.

VERIFY YOUR DOWNLOADS
Publishers often list an SHA-256 or MD5 checksum next to a download link. Hash the file you actually received, paste in the published value, and confirm the two match before you install or trust it. A single changed byte produces a completely different hash, which makes this a reliable integrity check.
A NOTE ON ALGORITHM CHOICE
SHA-256 is the sensible default for integrity checks. MD5 and SHA-1 remain useful for matching legacy checksums, but both are considered broken against deliberate tampering and should not be relied on for security. CRC32 detects accidental corruption, not malicious modification.
PRIVACY
All hashing is performed on your device. The files you select and the text you enter are never uploaded to a server and are not sent anywhere for processing.
