This app and Garmin claim you can text directly to someone without them having their app. That is simply not true, you can see dozens of reviews saying the same. Garmin continues to claim this is a feature when it obviously is not.

I was hoping for voice assistant because Garmin screen display is not a 47mm like Garmin averting is 43.8 in that keyboard is very hard to touch very disappointing about plus that in reach never works a ripped off garbage scam that 51mm watch is averting is 47mm screen display when in fact is 43.8mm i got you wow if you want to come pair put a Samsung galaxy 44mm screen display next to a Garmin watch in take look for your self.. i can believe that Samsung 44mm is got a bigger display

Garmin changed their system so it no longer sends the content of your InReach messages through SMS. If you send a message from your device, it forces the recipient to download the app. This will cost people their lives.

Garmin 67i is a great piece of hardware but the software sucks, it should not be so difficult to use in this day and age. They need competition.

GARBAGE APP

Most people use this service for a situation where having mobile phone service is limited which means emergencies and life endangering situations need prompt messaging capabilities. There is a major bug right now preventing use of the messenger app to your contacts. Your only option is to message directly from the device essentially rendering this app worthless. Garmin has sent out zero communication about this to users and as usual getting any customer support is dismal. I had to go find a cellular service area to try to troubleshoot this issue. Unacceptable. Hopefully someone’s life isn’t put in danger because of Garmin’s lack of accountability for resolving this MAJOR outage. Starlink, although a little more expensive, as well as iOS satellite messaging seems to be good enough to justify canceling this service. I do not recommend you keeping your service with Garmin. Your life could depend on it.
