The app is useless. Apparently you need to have a Garmin device of some kind to link Active Captain to in order to get it to work. I am running the Navionics app on a tablet and was hoping to use the Active Captain community to answer some questions for me. The old Active Captain forum was really good and the community helpful. Since Active Captain was acquired by Garmin, it's now all about business instead of a helpful tool.

As a first time user, I found the app easy to follow and some of the functions very useful

Would be ALOT better if there was a PC version of this. Trying to do a 12.6GB software was a nightmare via Android because android doesnt like wifi networks that dont have internet. BETTER YET, just make the chartplotters connect to my existing wifi instead of making their own network, then they can update & work without a phone and/or data plan in the way, using my existing wifi network, and then Garmin Express ect can connect without a SD Card that requires rear unit access while flush mounted

I uninstall the app on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra). Runs slow and the freezes up. It also won't connect to my chartplotter. I have to use a iPad to update my software.

Horrible, the app does little good when it randomly displays gigantic grey boxes on the map, which are only present when you zoom in to about a 50 mile wide view or in farther. Zoomed way out, there is no giant grey box, but at a zoom level of over 50 miles wide on the screen, the map is worthless.
