Used it to sail around the world back in the day, now it's completely useless. Look elsewhere.

App in general is good. However a paid navigation application that CANNOT show Magnetic courses, only true, is useless and unsafe. Response to Garmin's reply to comment. It is stunning that Garmin considers their position acceptable. Every other product they produce is able to show magnetic courses. Even my Garmin 3210 chartplotter bought 20 years ago outputs magnetic courses. Every other navigation application outputs magnetic courses. Please fix and issue update

Developer Response

Navionics charts are based on True North. Magnetic North differs over time and with location. Government charts are also presented in True North. The Navionics Boating app doesn’t currently offer option to set your bearing to magnetic. One would need to convert True North to Magnetic North by calculating the magnetic declination manually.

Good charts, frustrating UX. Renaming a route is needlessly painful. the edit-name icon is hidden, and every time I want to rename a route it takes me a good ten minutes to work out where the control has gone (it seems to depend on screen orientation). Two simple fixes would transform this: 1. When creating a route, prompt the user to name it instead of auto-saving to an incremental number. 2. Let users long-press a route in the archive to rename it directly.

for some reason when it plots a course it just plots a perfectly straight line... Even across land. Not helpful. I expect a nautical navigation tool to show me a specific route around obstacles.
