Description

The NHS App gives you a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

You can use the app if you are aged 13 or over. You must be registered with an NHS GP surgery in England or the Isle of Man.

You can also log in through the NHS website on a computer to use NHS App services.

Access NHS services 
----------------------
Use the NHS App to access your NHS services, anytime and anywhere. You can request repeat prescriptions, use 111 online, find nearby NHS services and more.
Depending on your GP surgery, you may also be able to book appointments and contact your surgery about a health problem.

Manage your health 
--------------------
The NHS App gives you a convenient way to view your health information, including your test results.
You can manage your upcoming appointments and prescription requests. You can also make choices about your health, like your organ donation decision.

Receive messages 
-------------------
You can get important messages from your GP surgery and other NHS services through the app. Turning on notifications can alert you to new messages.

Manage services for other people 
--------------------------------- 
You can switch profiles to access services for other people in the NHS App, such as a child or family member. Your GP surgery needs to give you access and you must both share the same surgery.

Log in securely 
---------------
The NHS App will guide you through setting up an NHS login if you do not have one already. You will be asked to prove who you are. The app will then securely connect to information from your NHS services.  If your iPhone or iPad supports Touch ID or Face ID, you can use it to log in, every time you use the app.

Same experience as other people, need a text code to log in but when I switch back to the app it returns me to the log in screen so unable to enter the code. Tried 3 times and now locked out!

Despite being 83 years old and at first being absolutely against yet more online stuff, I am now quite happy with the NHS app and the ease with which I can order my repeat prescriptions and when necessary, complete an online consultation.

Health record missing since update

Used to work fine, now GP health record is missing, now only shows GP “Documents” which each need to be opened individually to see content. Previously had Summary Record, Detailed Record and Documents. Contacted GP surgery and they confirmed all access was still avail to app. Pointless and retrograde modifications to the app.

Easy to use

Once the initial setup is done. Very easy to use. I have both myself and family members (GP authorised) all in one place. So if you’re having problems, it might not just be the app. It’s so much easier to order meds and my records. **Update 07/06/2026** Since the last update I now can’t see if meds have been ordered. If I’ve spoken to a medical person at the practice, you used to be able to see any notes they’ve made about the appointment (call in my case). I’m hoping this is just a glitch with new update. As now I can’t see it anyway. The app itself was working find, then the update happened. I’ll give it some time just in case it’s a case it’s a glitch with the new update.

Brilliant App

I am absolutely loving the app but I am devastated that originally had all my documents and now they’ve all disappeared I have tried everything that is recommended but still no joy.
