HOW IT WORKS
Most weather apps tell you whether the sun is out. Coffee in the Sun tells you where the sun actually falls, block by block, metre by metre. The app pulls real building outlines and heights from OpenStreetMap, works out the shadow every building casts right now, and draws it live over the map. The result looks like a real shadow, because it is one.
The whole interface follows the sun too: the map turns dark once the sun goes down where you are looking, and light again at sunrise.

HOW ACCURATE IS IT
Shadows use the same solar geometry as professional sun-path tools: azimuth and altitude from SunCalc, and a shadow projected from each building outline in OpenStreetMap. Trees, hedges, fences, canopies and hills are not in that data, and neither is cloud cover. The app tells you when the sun can reach a spot, not whether the sky will be clear.
Building coverage depends on OpenStreetMap. In most European cities it is excellent. Somewhere with no buildings mapped, the app says so instead of pretending.
PRIVACY
Your location is used to centre the map, and nothing else. No account, no sign-up, no advertising, no tracking. The map area you are looking at is sent to OpenStreetMap and MET Norway to fetch buildings and weather; that is a map region, not your identity. Full privacy policy at coffeeinthesun.app/privacy.
