Description

When paired with a compatible Garmin kid’s wearable device, the Garmin Jr.™ app¹ is a parent’s resource for keeping track of kids’ activity² and sleep, managing chores and rewards and encouraging daily activity.

With a compatible LTE-capable device, parents can also stay connected to their kids with texts, voice messages or voice calls to and from the device. They can track their location on the map in the Garmin Jr.™ app, set boundaries and receive alerts related to those boundaries. Your kids will only be able to interact with the people you add to your family in the app.

The Parent Helper
With the Garmin Jr.™ app on their smartphone, parents can:

Call and receive calls from your child’s compatible Garmin device.*
Send text and voice messages to your child’s compatible device.*
Track your child’s location on the map.*
Get detailed statistics about your child’s activity and sleep.
Celebrate personal records, including steps and active minutes.
Assign tasks and chores and reward your kids for a job well done.
Manage your child’s device settings, including goals, alarms, icons and display.
Create challenges to encourage the whole family to be more active.
Connect with other families and compete in multi-family challenges.
Invite up to nine trusted people to your family.
Get notified when your child leaves or arrives at a family boundary.*
Get notified when kids in the family request assistance from their compatible devices.
Add and organize music on your child’s compatible device.

App is unreliable, sometimes I'm unable to call my child, just doesn't connect. Frustrating as this was going to by used for safety and communication. All contact with the watch must be done via the app. Makes it hard for family to keep in touch as they need to download the app rather than just use a number. UPDATE - Im unable to call the watch. I've reinstalled the app. Frustrating as it defeats the purpose of owning this device.

Livetrack and calls never work, so basically you get a simple cheap watch for your kid to look at. I am in an open park with 5G connection on my phone and the watches have no signal. Don't buy a bounce watch, it does not work.

Not really good. Most features work reasonably well, but some critical features are missing or unreliable. Unreliable connection to the watch (messages not getting sent), limited control over certain settings e.g. only one down time setting for the full week. Some games for the kids are only available on parents devices. There's no useful "kids app". Emergency contacts should be reachable even after downtime (sleep time) for example during sleepovers.

What I’ve been looking for

I’m super happy with the sub subscription price. I’m happy that it doesn’t need cell service. I’m extra glad that my Garmin account can connect to his and we can compete in steps together now. It’s really motivated my boy to get his chores done in the morning. I love that. I can communicate with him while he’s at school if he needs updates from me without me having to buy him a cell phone.

Poor product

So I got my kid a watch. Then I need to make an account. Then I need to pay to confirm I’m an adult. Fine all the companies do this. Then I need to create a kid account with a KIDS EMAIL. Nope. My kid doesn’t have an email and I’m not getting one for them just so you can prey on them. Guess this watch is now a brick.
