Then & There helps you turn printed photographs into an organised family archive. Scan your prints, record the memories behind them and work out when they were taken using the people, ages and life events you remember.

SCAN YOUR PRINTS
Capture photographs with your camera, correct perspective and refine the crop with zoom, rotation and adjustable edges. Keep the original scan, link the back to the front and separate individual pictures from collages. Automatic detection helps with suitable prints; you can always adjust the result.

KEEP THE STORIES
Add a caption, write a memory or record narration alongside a photograph. On-device transcription is available on supported devices. Read text from photographs and their backs, then correct it yourself when needed.

REMEMBER THE PEOPLE
Review detected faces, name the people you recognise and add someone manually when a face is missed. Birth dates, optional death dates and shared life events give your timeline a foundation. Face matches are suggestions for you to confirm.

BUILD A TIMELINE
Start with an exact date, a rough date or an age. Compare photographs side by side, use nearby life events and connect pictures taken at the same moment. Review conflicting clues, choose a full estimated date when the exact day is unknown, and lock dates you have confirmed. Then & There preserves the clues and uncertainty behind your choices.

COMPARE WITH OTHER LIBRARIES
Connect your own Immich libraries or choose up to 2,000 reference photos through Google Photos. Browse references, save candidates and compare them with your scan. Google Photos shows your selections, not unrestricted library access. These optional connections need internet access and your provider account. You can also try Immich’s public demo library without your own server or API key; it may be temporarily unavailable during resets. Import selected iCloud downloads or use your device photo picker; iCloud is a download/import workflow, not automatic sync.

TAKE YOUR ARCHIVE WITH YOU
Export photographs with a reviewed full date in their metadata, arranged in your choice of folders. Keep just the images or include companion files with their stories and context. Save a Then & There archive backup to preserve your work and restore it later, even while some photos still need dates.

YOUR MEMORIES, ON YOUR DEVICE
Core scanning, organisation and date review work locally. Your scans are not automatically uploaded to Then & There. You choose when to connect another library or share an export. Back up your archive somewhere safe before changing devices.
