What's New

Version 1.4.1 · May 8, 2026

Purr-fect Headphone Handoff - Plugging in or unplugging headphones mid-conversation no longer causes a cat-astrophic crash. Lumo now handles audio switches as gracefully as a cat landing on its feet. iOS 17 Gets Nine Lives Back - Fixed a crash that cut off message sending on iOS 17 devices. Lumo now delivers your words without burning through any of those precious nine lives. Auto-cat-rect Is Back - Autocorrection and spell checking are working again in the message composer. Your typos won't slip through the cat door anymore! Sorry for all the puns :)

Jpeg png etc.

Wow!

The latest update is dramatically faster to load and use than previous versions. I don’t know what black [cat] magic you used, but well done!

Great fiction writer!!! Hallucinates!!

I asked for a list of slow release organic fertilizers made in Canada and available at retailers in the city I live in. It provided an authentic-looking list; except - all the locations cited are non-existent!! Would never use it again!!

Wish it looked better

Great app, good responses and web search feature. I would love a Liquid Glass update similar to the ProtonMail app.

Data loss and corrupted syncs, years behind other bots, switched to Claude

Last update: Lumo is too broken to use. Today, on both devices, I’m just getting the “Retry” failure prompt on every question. I’m uninstalling it. Not to mention that chats don’t stay in sync across devices, and sometimes whole sections of them disappear. The developers are incapable of providing even basic sync and data preservation. Also, deleting a chat inside a project deletes the entire project, including all other chats in it. Absolutely inexcusable data loss and failure. I started using Claude last week for work and was blown away at how useful and competent it is. Lumo was my only previous exposure to AI, and it set the bar very low. The lack of useful memory in Lumo, the tight constraints on free accounts, the lack of advanced tools, the poor non-native UX, the constant failures and bugs, and the correspondingly low level of functionality for the price in Lumo Plus compared to all other AIs makes it too unfinished and limited to keep using. The E2E security is a true advantage, don’t get me wrong. But at literally everything else Lumo is years behind the competition, and at a certain point security doesn’t even matter if the tool can’t do the basics. —— I appreciate the developer response, although I’ve reported all of the issues here directly to customer support multiple times so I’m not sure what the request is for. Regardless, I’ve updated my review to remove issues that have been resolved recently. All issues still listed here are valid. I’m a longtime paying Proton user, and I love the idea behind this app, but the quality has been shaky since launch. Even after multiple updates, many basic issues remain: - Lumo gets things wrong. A lot. It’s nice that it now shows the links and searches it uses for the answer, because it saves you time in getting to the right information. Lumo is really bad at interpreting live information like prices, travel bookings, and the like; it almost always misreads sites and confidently reports back totally inaccurate information. - The answers are wrong way too often. Just today, I asked a security question about iOS 26.2, and Lumo “corrected” me by saying iOS 26.2 doesn’t exist, and that iOS 17 is the latest version. This type of blatant hallucination about objective facts happens too often. - Lumo uses wide text tables that require clumsy side-to-side scrolling just to read them. It is impossible to turn this off, and it makes the answers extremely uncomfortable to read on the iPhone. - Dark mode is flickery, especially with the loading screen. There are flashes of the white version of the app regardless of your setting, which defeats the purpose of dark mode. - The settings page has “scrolling a scrollable window within another scrollable window” issues that make it hard to use on the iPhone screen — especially when the keyboard is up (which it usually is, given the settings require text input). This is a website running in an app shell, and it never stops feeling that way. Those are just the currently reported bugs that haven’t been fixed. The list used to be much, much longer but the devs are working through issues as they can. Give Lumo 6-9 more months and it’ll be really good, I’m sure. For now, though, it is behind other AI chat apps, and the limitations can be very frustrating.

Good addition to the Proton ecosystem

Nice privacy round out by Proton. Lumo is private, is secure, but sometimes has a sensitivity issue. But being private by design maybe that’s the feature, not the bug.
