Ads are absolutely ridiculous now. I get you need to pay creators and keep the app running. But two back-to-back mobile slop game ads, with timing bars at the bottom that are misleading and deceptive, and fake "X" buttons that appear and just lead you to the play store to download these malware games? Completely disgusting. I can handle a certain amount to support creators, but at this rate I'm considering going anywhere else. TLDR ads ruin this app. Do not use.

Great comics but almost you have to pass an ad forest to read anything or pay money money money. I miss the old days of webtoons. I heard creators were ditching webtoon, don't blame them.

Stop Ads

Had been using this apps almost 10years. Was great for original manga and provided a place for new creators. But don’t bring ads to every single page like YouTube does.

Pros and cons

Webtoon is the best app for reading manga hands down. If you dont want to spend a fortune on every manga you try and read, this is the option for you. It has relatively short ads ONLY when you click on a manga that says something like (watch an ad or use 3 coins), otherwise there are no ads or popups asking you to buy coins. The only chapters that have coins are the last couple, and if you still dont want to use any then you can just wait. The translations for most of the ones i have read have been excellent, even seamlessly translating the sfx and any messages or other software that is usually left undone. The downsides are that many of the manga may be fully or more released than what webtoon has, and because they don’t immediately upload all of it, there are some series that take a long time to come out and use up a lot of coins. For example, the one i am reading has 50+ chapters elsewhere, but on webtoon i only have up to chapter 20 or ill have to pay coins. And even then if i were to use coins there is still only 30 chapters. In any case, if you want to read manga online but cant due to the ads or because you want to support the author then use brave web browser, works great and nothing has happened to my laptop after 5 years of using it. In any case, this is a very user friendly and well designed app, with features such as downloading or ‘watching’ a small reel to see the mangas plot. I think if you are a cheapskate like me or a student or just anyone with little to no income, this is a great choice for you.
