Matchy Maps makes it fun and easy to import walking maps into your phone!

Simply take a photograph of your paper map and align it with our digital map. You'll then be able to see your location on the paper map as you walk around.

Following complicated walking routes becomes simple!

Take pictures of map boards at the entrances to parks, zoos and theme parks and find your way around all the best routes and attractions by just glancing at your phone.

I am committed to making ethical software, so Matchy Maps doesn't contain any advertising, it doesn't require a subscription and it doesn't share your data with anyone. Just a small one-off payment and it's yours for life!

Tips:
* For best alignment, make sure the phone is as parallel to the map as possible when taking pictures
* Always make sure you have a back-up map with you when walking anywhere dangerous/unfamiliar
* You can now also import maps from images and PDFs on the web!

Tap the magnifying glass on the top bar to jump there * Share destination - You can now load images straight into Matchy Maps by using the 'Share' function in other apps * Import PDFs - Share a PDF file into Matchy Maps and you'll be able to select a page to match just like a photo * Nudge improvements - The nudge controls are now proportional to the zoom level, so if you're matching a very large or very small scale map, the nudge distance will be more appropriate * Higher resolution photos - When taking a photograph the image resolution will now be double, allowing for clearer text when zoomed in Bug fixes: * The direction of the nudge controls is now correct when dealing with maps that have been rotated a large amount

amazing, really unique app. worth using for the novelty alone, but is also really useful for getting your location on a paper map. it's a little fiddly to get it in the right spot, so some better controls here would be welcome, but still 5 stars from me.

MM georegisters photographed maps using an affine transformation. The map to register fills your phone screen and using the precise custom toolset that can be popped up from the 'four arrow' icon on the Alignment page, the user aligns the underlying reference map to the photographed overlay. If you have poor eyesight or are working in bright sunlight this is going to be a crude alignment but it may suffice for navigation use. This is a very useful app and the author is receptive to feedback.
